Clinics

The Umpire Clinic prepares the participant to survive officiating the first 10 high school baseball/softball games. The course includes classroom instruction on the rules of the high school baseball/softball game and appropriate officiating mechanics. Officiating philosophy for high school is also discussed.

Clinic Objectives:

  • Train new officials to become competent High School Level Baseball/Softball Officials
  • Instruction from Illinois High School Association Certified Clinicians
  • Learn basic National Federation Rules
  • Learn basic Illinois High School Association Officiating Mechanics
  • Helps brand new officials obtain IHSA licensing at a discount

This clinic is presented by IACO (Inter-Athletic Council of Athletic Officials) and is supported by the IHSA (Illinois High School Association). IACO is an organization made up of 14 officials associations throughout northeast Illinois. Member officials of these associations officiate most IHSA sanctioned high school sports. IACO’s mission is to recruit, and train new as well as veteran high school sports officials in standardized methods and techniques of officiating high school sports.
